Field Guides

Color Guide to Common Dragonflies of Wisconsin by Karl and Dorothy Legler

This useful guide has been out of print for a few years but it is now available.  I suggest that everyone in the southern half of Minnesota adds this to their library as it covers many of the southern MN species not covered in the North Woods guide.  Northerners will also find it very useful.

Dragonflies and Damselflies of Northeast Ohio – Second Edition
by Larry Rosche with Judy Semroc and Linda Gilbert

Despite the implication that this guide is only for the 14 counties in Ohio’s NE corner, this guide contains many Minnesota species, including most (all?) of the southern MN dragonfly species not included in the North Woods guide.  Replete with color photos and it also has all of the color illustrations from the first edition.
